Gov. Togiola pleased with Business Opportunities
Conference in Guam

(UTULEI) - Governor Togiola Tulafono issued the following statement regarding the success of the Department of the Interior’s 4th Conference on Business Opportunities that was held on October 8-10 in Hagatna, Guam.

The conference, which included a special session on economic development associated with the planned military construction in Guam, aimed to showcase business opportunities in the U.S. affiliated islands for U.S. mainland and Asia-Pacific business and investment communities.

Governor Togiola attended the conference with Commerce Director Faleseu Eliu Paopao, Budget Director Magalei Logovi’i, American Samoa Community College Board Chairman Pemerika Tauili’ili, ASCC Board member Sapini Siatu’u and ASCC Chief Financial Officer Falema’o Pili, Ituau Rep. Taotasi Archie Soliai, Swains Rep. Alex Jennings and Tourism Director Virginia Samuelu.

STATEMENT

“The conference in Guam by far has been the most productive and successful business development conference.

I am very proud of the preparation and work by our team. Directors Magalei and Faleseu attended all the one-on-one meetings with me, and Rep. Taotasi Archie Soliai and Rep. Alex Jennings were very active in the meetings as well.

The participation of ASCC Chairman Pemerika Tauili’ili, Board member Sapini Siatuu and ASCC CFO Falema'o Pili from the American Samoa Community College was well received and beneficial.

I truly believe they have come away with good connections that will benefit ASCC in the future. We have also established some contacts and connections that will most certainly bring development to the Territory.

The local participation of Samoa Pacific Shipping, Managing Director, Mr. Paul Ratterman was recognized and we greatly appreciate his input.

I want to congratulate Director Faleseu and the Department of Commerce for their preparation for the conference.”
