Malaetele Dr. Lui Tuitele
(WASHINGTON DC) Governor Togiola Tulafono today expressed his sadness on hearing of the news of the passing of former DOE director, Malaetele Dr. Lui Tuitele.
The following is the official statement from Governor Togiola:
On behalf of the people and government of American Samoa I wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathy in hearing of the death of a former member of my cabinet who served as Director of Education, Malaetele Dr. Lui Tuitele.
Malaetele dedicated himself and his long career to the Department of Education with the hope of making an indelible mark in his contribution to the lives of our sons and daughters in the classroom, as school administrator and as director of the department.
During his years at DOE, Malaetele's commitment to excellence in education was shown through his many years of service to students, teachers and administrators alike. Dr. Tuitele will be missed.
Mary, Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi and Mrs. Elisapeta Sunia join me in expressing our most heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Melania Tuitele and family during this time of sorrow. Our prayers and thoughts are with her and family.
