The new Marine & Wildlife Resources vessel "Pualele," christened on Monday, August 13thC and replaces the ever-reliable Sausauimoana, which was in service for thirty years. Funding for the new boat came from the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration program through the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Marine & Wildlife Resources Director Ufagafa Ray Tulafono expressed his thanks to the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration program of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for funding the the $300,000 vessel "Pualele" that has replaced the thirty year-old Sausauimoana.

Governor Togiola Tulafono took part in the christening ceremony of the new Marine & Wildlife Resources vessel "Pualele" on Monday, August 13th and said: "I wish to say thank you to the U.S Fisheries & Wildlife Service and its Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration program for this much-needed vessel," said Gov. Togiola "Thank you very much for the funding. It is an extremely valuable source of funding for fisheries work that is very important to the Territory so that we can continue to address our fisheries problems and needs, our fish restoration activities, reef programs, fisheries data and management planning."
