House confirms Fepulea’i as Attorney General
(UTULEI) – It is now official. Fepulea’i Afa Ripley Jr. is the new Attorney General after receiving confirmation in the House of Representatives today by a vote of 14-1.
Governor Togiola Tulafono expressed his gratitude to the House members for approving the nomination of Fepulea’i.
“Many thanks go out to the House as well as the Fono leadership for their support in the nomination. It is always a good feeling to successfully complete the confirmation process,” Governor Togiola. “Fepulea’i has a good plan to develop his department and address the needs of the people and government of American Samoa.”
Fepulea’i received a law degree from California Western School of Law in 1978 and currently has a private practice in Tafuna. He is a member of the bar associations of American Samoa and Hawaii and worked locally as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division for 4 years, and served as Senate Legal Counsel for 12 years.
In Hawaii, Fepulea’i was a partner for six years in the law firm of Minn & Ripley and also was a Deputy Attorney General and a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.
Currently, Fepulea’i is chairman of the Board of the American Samoa Power Authority.
