Senate confirms Fepulea’i
as Attorney General

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today expressed his sincere thanks in hearing of the Senate confirmation of Fepuleai Afa Ripley Jr. as Attorney General.

“I wish to thank the Senate for the confirmation of Fepulea’i,” said Governor Togiola. “I am confident that the plans that he brings to the Attorney General’s Office will lead to improvements that we continue to make in government.”

The Senate vote was 13-4.

Fepulea’i received a law degree from California Western School of Law in 1978 and currently has a private practice in Tafuna. He is a member of the bar associations of American Samoa and Hawaii and worked locally as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division for 4 years, and served as Senate Legal Counsel for 12 years.

In Hawaii, Fepulea’i was a partner for six years in the law firm of Minn & Ripley and also was a Deputy Attorney General and a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.

Currently, Fepulea’i is chairman of the Board of the American Samoa Power Authority.
