Local funds revenue exceeds expenditures for Nov. ‘07
Treasury’s Financial Overview report for local funds for the month of November reveals that the American Samoa Government spent 97-cents for every $1 received. At the end of the month, ASG had collected approximately $5,334,213 while expenditures amounted to only $5,188,252.
The surplus of $145,961 can be credited to several ASG departments, agencies, and funding sources that cut down on their spending compared to the same time in the past two years.
Leading the way is the Governor’s Office which cut its spending by more than $300,000 over the past two years. The Governor’s Office went from spending $453,163 in Nov. 2005 and $298,577 in Nov. 2006, to only $147,052 last month.
The Arts Council, which falls under the umbrella of the Governor’s Office, did their part by not spending a penny in Nov. 2007, although they spent $1,777 and $1,963 in Nov. 2005 and 2006, respectively.
The Department of Administrative Services also finished the month with impressive savings, down from spending $115,543 in Nov. 2005 and $110,861 in Nov. 2006 to only $55,281 last month.
The Office of Property Management was able to cut down their spending from nearly $50,000 in Nov. 2005 and over $30,000 in Nov. 2006 to $24,833 last month.
The Office of Procurement decreased its expenditures by spending only $71,880 last month compared to the $80,811 it spent in Nov. 2006 and a whopping $125,802 it expended in Nov. 2005.
