(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia today issued the following statement regarding the recovery of Governor Togiola Tulafono from an appendectomy.
STATEMENT
“I continue to be in close communication with Governor Togiola, First Lady Mary, and the hospital physician who is attending to the Governor. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Governor underwent a second operation on Sunday evening.
His vital signs are stable and he is feeling better following the procedure. The Governor has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit for close observation.
Governor Togiola and First Lady Mary extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the people and leaders of American Samoa for their kindness and prayers.
Doctors maintain a strict visitation policy for the Governor. The Office of the Governor requests the public to please respect the doctors’ orders by refraining from making personal visits to the Governor at this time. The Governor’s full and speedy recovery is a top priority.
Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi asks the people of American Samoa for their continued prayers for Governor Togiola, Mary and the family during this time.”
