Lt. Gov. Ipulasi offers condolences on passing of President Gordon B. Hinckley

(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia today released the following statement regarding the passing of Gordon B. Hinckley, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

STATEMENT

“On behalf of Governor Togiola Tulafono, I wish to extend the sincere condolences of the people and government of American Samoa on the passing of the Honorable Gordon B. Hinckley, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

President Hinckley was an optimistic and highly respected religious leader. He was a positive and faithful servant of God who loved people of all faiths. He was committed to reach out across the globe to elevate the presence and acceptance of Mormonism throughout the Christian world. It truly is a major religious accomplishment of the 21st century that will always be a part of his outstanding legacy. We share the sadness at the loss of President Hinckley, and also share the gratitude for his wonderful life performing the Lord’s work. He will be greatly missed.

I extend our deepest of sympathies and offer our thoughts and prayers to all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints here in American Samoa, across the Pacific and especially to the Hinckley family.”
