PROCLAMATION
DESIGNATING THE FIRST WEDNESDAY AFTER THE FIRST DAY
OF THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY AS THE DAY FOR THE
TERRITORIAL PRAYER BREAKFAST
WHEREAS, the Territory of American Samoa has, since the arrival of Christianity in these islands, embraced fully and wholeheartedly the Christian practices and principles which form the spiritual basis of our parent democracy the United States of America, as well as provide the foundation for our own Territorial government; and
WHEREAS, these principles have largely shaped and modeled our people and our culture, as well as the lives of those who have lead and served our families, villages, churches and island government for the past one hundred and eight years; and
WHEREAS, the official motto of the Territory of American Samoa is designated as “SAMOA MUAMUA LE ATUA”; and
WHEREAS, with the state of the world today, we as a people must come together with our hopes, and pray together for peace and prosperity for all of mankind, for our Territorial and National leaders, and for the leaders of the many nations of the world so that God may continue to grant the people of American Samoa and the citizens of the world freedom and peace everlasting; and
WHEREAS, by Executive Order 002-2007, Governor Togiola T.A. Tulafono, designated the first Wednesday after the first day of the month of February each year as Territorial Prayer Breakfast Day.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, AITOFELE T.F. SUNIA, Lieutenant Governor of American Samoa, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, February 6, 2008, as TERRITORIAL PRAYER BREAKFAST DAY, and urge the citizens of American Samoa to participate in celebrating this day by offering of prayers, and especially to remember in your prayers our Territorial and National leaders, and the leaders of the world.
