TCF women’s facilities and Election Office near completion

Construction work for the new women’s facilities at the Territorial Correctional Facility as well as the new Election Office, both in Tafuna, is nearing completion.

This is according to Justine Aetonu, manager for the Architectural and Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works which oversees both projects.

(It was DPW that provided the designs for both projects, including the project management for the work). The TCF women’s facilities are being built by Hudson Contracting while Asia Pacific Engineering and Construction Services (APECS) is carrying out the work for the Election Office.

The Election Office is being built in Tafuna across from the old Army Reserve compound while the TCF women’s facilities are being built on part of the old volleyball/basketball courts located right inside the main entrance gate.

Aetonu said the Election Office is about 80% complete while the TCF women’s facilities are about 70% complete.

DPW director Taeaotui Punaofo Tilei says that the new Election Office will be ready in time for this year’s general elections, set for later this year in November.
