A traditional canoe was presented to Governor Lolo Moliga as the incoming chair of the Polynesian Leaders Group meeting in 2019 by Tuvalu Prime Miniser Enele Sosene Sopoaga who chaired this year’s meeting in his country. The American Samoa delegation to the Tuvalu was led by Lieutenant Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, accompanied by the Governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo J. Pereira, Attorney General Talauega E. Ale and Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources Va’amua H. Sesepasara.
The beautiful sailing canoe was presented by Tuvalu’s High Comissioner to Fiji, Mr Temate Melitiana who was accompanied by many members of the local Tuvalu community. After remarks from the High Commisioner, the Tuvaluan group took the stage and performed several lively traditional dances which were well received and enjoyed by those gathered for Governor Lolo Moliga’s cabinet meeting. The American Samoa Government then provided customary gifts to the Tuvalu delegation in a show of appreciation and respect.
