June 3, 2017 - United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited American Samoa briefly while traveling to Australia and New Zealand for talks and again on his return Monday night. Governor Lolo and Lieutenant Governor Lemanu met with him during the stopovers to discuss relevant issues. 


May 18, 2017 - Former Senator Faasisina Fuamatu Fuamatu was sworn in as the new Western District Governor. An official ceremony was held at the Governor’s Office attended by Governor Lolo, Lt. Governor Lemanu, traditional leaders and Fuamatu’s family members.  Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga appointed Fuamatu to the post which was left vacant upon the passing of Lualemaga Faoa.  Fuamatu is a military retiree who served one term as Senator for Alataua District.

April 23, 2017 - The Vice President of the United States Mike Pence visited American Samoa accompanied by Mrs. Karen Pence. They were welcomed at Pago Pago International Airport by Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga and Mrs. Cynthia Moliga, Lt. Governor Lemanu Palepoi Sialega Mauga, Congresswoman Aumua Amata Radewagen and other local dignitaries. The Vice President reviewed and spent a substantial time visiting with the American Samoan troops and then dedicated the Eni F. H. Faleomavaega VA Clinic.  In consideration of time constraints and security requirements, all activities were held at the airport.
