Governor Pulaali'i Nikolao Pula Joins ASCC in Celebrating 82nd Commencement Ceremony

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa — The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) celebrated its 82nd Commencement Ceremony for Spring graduates on Friday, May 16th, at the Kanana Fou Taeaoafua Hall. The milestone event was attended by esteemed leaders, proud families, friends, and, most importantly, the graduating class of Spring 2025.
ASCC President, Dr. Rosevonne Pato, delivered an inspiring address, reminding graduates that education is a lifelong journey. "Education does not end with a degree. It encompasses all of life’s experiences, formal and informal. Remember, education is life itself," said Dr. Pato.
In his remarks, the Honorable Governor Pulaali'i Nikolao Pula congratulated the graduates on their hard-earned achievements. He acknowledged the challenges faced in pursuing higher education and encouraged graduates to view this milestone not as an end, but as the beginning of a new chapter.
Governor Pulaali'i highlighted the ASCC mission statement, which focuses on successful workforce entry, transfer to higher institutions, cultural awareness of Samoa and the Pacific, and research and extension in human and natural resources. He urged graduates to continue seeking knowledge, emphasizing that "there is no limit to education. Through lifelong learning and collective efforts, true wisdom and meaningful impact are achieved."
In a heartfelt conclusion, Governor Pulaali'i shared words from his late father, who once addressed a graduating class in 1974:"No matter where you go or whatever you do in your future, always remember who you are, and where you are from. You are children of American Samoa."

The keynote address was delivered by Director Adrian Vasai of Vocational Rehabilitation, who commended the graduates for their perseverance. She underscored the importance of resilience, sharing examples of well-known figures who overcame rejection and hardships to succeed. Director Vasai encouraged graduates to continue striving for excellence, remain resilient, and give back to their families and the territory.

A total of 71 graduates were awarded Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, marking a significant accomplishment for themselves, their families, and the community.
Congratulations to the Spring Class of 2025 on their achievements at the 82nd ASCC Commencement Ceremony.
