American Samoa Governor Pulaalii Tuiteleapaga Iuli Nikolao Pula has appointed Peter M. Fuimaono as Insurance Commissioner, effective January 9, 2025.

As Commissioner, Fuimaono is charged with protecting consumers rights and public’s interest in dealing with the insurance industry.

Commissioner Fuimaono previously served in the same position, appointed by Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga on January 3, 2017.  He has served as the 8th and 10th Insurance Commissioner for American Samoa since the position was established in 1974.​

Commissioner Peter M. Fuimaono, US citizen (US Natonal) of Native American Samoa descent, has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, including bank and financial management, property ownership, community association, management and real estate management.  He furthered his education at Brigham Young University in Utah and Hawaii Business University in Hawaii, and has spent most of his career in the private sector.

 

Commissioner Fuimaono currently serves as paramount High Chief Fuimaono and has served as Chairman of the for the American Samoa Cultural and Art Federation in the State of Hawaii.
