In a landmark celebration of national pride and military unity, American Samoa hosted its first-ever Navy Week, coinciding with the territory’s 125th Flag Day, marking a historic and meaningful collaboration between the United States Navy and the people of American Samoa.

Navy Week 2025 provided a unique opportunity for all branches of the Navy to come together in the heart of the South Pacific, engaging with local communities while honoring the long-standing relationship between American Samoa and the U.S. Armed Forces. The week-long celebration was strategically aligned with the 125th Flag Day, amplifying the significance of both events and creating a memorable experience for all involved.

A series of engaging public events, cultural exchanges, and military ceremonies were organized by the Navy Week 2025 Steering Committee. Visiting dignitaries and military personnel invited for Flag Day were treated to a host of Navy Week activities, showcasing the strength, unity, and cultural respect of the U.S. Navy.

Among the standout highlights was the U.S. Marine Corps Band and the U.S. Navy Band, which captivated audiences with performances that included local favorites and stirring renditions of the U.S. and American Samoa national anthems. Their presence added a musical heartbeat to the celebrations, resonating deeply with attendees.

Community engagement was further strengthened through the inaugural Navy vs. Army softball game, which drew hundreds of spectators and fostered a spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie. Another major milestone was the grand opening of the new Navy Recruitment Station at the Moso’oi Building, marked by a ceremonial swearing-in of new recruits from the territory, symbolizing the next generation of Samoan service members joining the U.S. Navy.

The culmination of Navy Week was its full participation in American Samoa’s 125th Flag Day. Navy personnel proudly marched alongside local groups, celebrating the territory’s cultural heritage and its enduring partnership with the United States.

The successful celebration of Navy Week 2025 in American Samoa not only marked a historic first but also reinforced the deep bonds of service, honor, and shared tradition that define the relationship between the U.S. Navy and the people of American Samoa.
