Governor Pulaali’i Serves Opening Ball for
The Pacific Nations Cup in American Samoa

Pago Pago, American Samoa – The American Samoa Tennis Association (ASTA) proudly hosted the official opening ceremony of the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup on Monday, June 30th. The event brought together more than 65 athletes, management and officials representing 11 island nations: Fiji, Nauru, Norfolk Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and our team, American Samoa.
In a momentous occasion marking 40 years since the founding of ASTA, the President of the Association, Dr. Florence Wasko, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed guests, sponsors, families, and friends who have made the tournament possible. “This is a very special milestone for our association, and we are honored to share it with our Pacific neighbors,” said Dr. Wasko.
Governor Pulaali'i Nikolao Pula delivered special remarks, warmly welcoming all traveling athletes and delegations to American Samoa. He acknowledged the importance of sport as a unifying force, stating, “Sport is more than just competition,it is an opportunity to build lasting bonds, share cultures, and create memories that transcend borders.” The Governor extended his best wishes to all athletes for a successful and enjoyable tournament.
To officially open the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup, Governor Pulaali'i ceremoniously served the first ball, signaling the start of a week of friendly competition and Pacific fellowship.
The Pacific Nations Cup promises to be a celebration of athletic excellence, cultural unity, and regional camaraderie as the spirit of tennis brings the Pacific together in American Samoa.
